Surf City

It’s off to California in a few days for a performance of the Brahms concerto. For me, playing a concerto is like chamber music writ large.

I often use the image of ‘riding the wave’ when teaching, especially when coaching chamber music. I imagine the high that big-wave surfers get when riding a 70-foot wall of water  must be similar to the feeling I get when playing a concerto as powerful and symphonic as the Brahms….

I can’t wait to work with my friends in the orchestra.

Hi Jeff! One of the main reasons for choosing Brahms was getting to hear you all play it.
